About Us

Veruth Holdings is a private, family-owned investment business set up to continue through future generations. It will adapt to change whilst maintaining its fundamental values of integrity, straight forwardness, and prioritising people.

We look to acquire companies that are compatible with businesses already in our group. These will be B2B within a wide definition of electrical engineering. Our focus is on scale up, not start-up, companies that are already successfully trading and are ready to grow further. Veruth’s absolute desire is to help organisations grow profitably, responsibly, and to be part of their local communities.

Veruth has an underlying passion to devote time and resources to community and educational projects, recognising it’s social responsibility.

By focusing on the long term, Veruth is a partner to make the future better.

How it all Began

Veruth Holdings was founded in 1936 as a manufacturing business called British Physical Laboratories (BPL). Growing at a steady pace during the 1950s and 1960s BPL became one of the most successful businesses in its sector with over 250 employees. Two divisions of the company were sold off in the 1970s to large multinational companies. The company later re-formed owning 100% of Europa Components. In 1991 David Sheridan became the Chairman of Veruth following the death of his father Dr. Vernon Sheridan (founder of BPL) and the company was split into a separate entity.

The company was named Veruth by David Sheridan as a tribute and suitable reminder of his parents, combining both of their names. Veruth Holdings continues to flourish recognising the importance of long-term investment in innovative businesses and solutions. 15 years ago, in the partnership with Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Veruth set up an annual bursary scheme providing grants to talented engineering students in Luton.

Supporting Young People

Since 2011 Veruth Holdings has awarded a bursary of £5,000 per year to a local Luton student who is going on to a British University to study any form of Engineering. This is done in conjunction with the Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce. Four judges are involved in assessing each submission. Veruth are proud to be able to support the education of Luton students and wish those who have benefitted from the bursary all the success in their future careers.

Supporting students with careers adviceAlongside this Veruth’s Chairman supports school students in Luton with careers advice and encouragement. Such as attending Business Breakfasts, where students have the opportunity to meet with a variety of employers. Student feedback about these events is positive, “I now understand all the possibilities I have after school….I am excited for work.”

Rotary Technology Tournament

Honouring our engineering heritage and passion, Veruth sponsors St Albans Rotary Club Technology Tournament. An annual event where teams of students design, build and test a piece of equipment to complete a set challenge. With Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels, the tournament caters for all age roups and encourages creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.

Veruth takes an active role in the local community and wants to ensure that it helps support the aspirations of future generations. As the history of Veruth started with engineering it seems only fitting that the importance of engineering is continued to be recognised by the company.

Our Commitment to the Environment

Veruth takes it’s wider responsibilities as company seriously and works closely with the companies it invests in to consider the environmental impact of the work that they do. It is a requirement of annual Directors Reports that sustainability and environmental impact is included.

To support putting our commitment into action, Veruth Holdings are pleased to donate monthly to the Woodland Trust to support the creation, protection and restoration of UK Woodland.
